Bob NilssonDirector, Vertical Solutions MarketingApril 20th 2017

More and more communities are taking advantage of emerging Internet of Things technology. Our soon-to-be-complete smart city survey is finding that 62% of respondents are aware of the benefits and 23% are actively pursuing projects. According to the survey, the top three benefits are improvements to public safety, better efficiency and lower expenses, and quicker responsiveness.

Smart city technologies are also being applied to campuses and privately-owned buildings. Data from environmental and traffic sensors can be used to optimize heating and cooling. Sharing real-time data via smart phone apps on such things as public transportation, events, parking, emergencies, and traffic congestion can improve customer satisfaction, whether your customers are residents, students, or employees.
