Eufaula City Schools Earns the Extreme Exemplary School Award

When a school breaks new ground in education through innovation, creativity, and by applying emerging educational technology, we feel it’s important to recognize the achievement and spread the word. One of our most important goals at Extreme Networks is to drive continuous quality improvements in education. For this reason, we instituted the Extreme Exemplary School Award program that recognizes and honors visionary K-12 school districts.

Eufaula City Schools offers a unique curriculum, including a drone pilot licensing program, which allows students to earn their FAA pilot’s license, and a coding curriculum, which was awarded the 2017 Champion for Computer Science award by Code.org. Overall the school district provides a deep set of programs including enrichment electives, credit recovery, robotics, and its award-winning Career Academy. They are recognized by U.S. News and World Report as one of the “Top 100” schools in the United States.

Extreme’s solutions helped to transform Eufaula’s new $3.2 million athletic facility into a technology hub. The network environment including ExtremeWireless™, ExtremeManagement™, and ExtremeAnalytics™ enables the district to provide reliable, high-density Wi-Fi to over 2,700 students and 300 teachers within classrooms and their new indoor athletic practice facility.

Todd Watkins, director of technology and innovation at Eufaula City Schools, can’t say enough about the partnership Eufaula has with Extreme Networks and acknowledges the special relationship with Account Executive Gabby and Sr. Systems Engineer Brian Neal that makes this successful. “They have been involved in every aspect from the start almost two years ago. Without their support and hard work, our district would not be where we are now.”

The Exemplary School Award is presented to schools that meet the following criteria:

• Stimulate 24×7 Learning: To meet the demands of today’s competitive global economy, schools must create lifetime learners. To promote this concept and qualify for the Extreme Exemplary School Award, a school must institute a 1:1 or Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) mobile learning environment.
• Facilitate Individual Instruction: Learning is not a one-size-fits-all environment. Networks and resources must be empowered to permit personalized digital learning.
• Encourage Curricular Growth: To meet the demands of curricular change, a district must implement an infrastructure that readily adapts to curricular needs. Everyone learns differently, and the network must be prepared to meet the growing requirements of eBooks, streaming video and blended or flipped learning.
